Flanking movement
A flanking movement is a military tactic where troops attack an enemy from the side or rear, rather than head-on. The goal is to surprise the opponent, exploit weaker points, and reduce their ability to defend effectively. By repositioning quickly around the enemy's side or back, forces can gain a strategic advantage, often leading to quicker victory or better battlefield positioning. It requires coordination, awareness of terrain, and timing to be successful, and it’s used to weaken the enemy’s defenses and create opportunities for attack.
