Flamingo Species

Flamingos are long-legged, pink-feathered birds known for their distinctive curved bill and social colonies. They belong to the Phoenicopteridae family, with six main species, each adapted to different habitats like salt lakes, lagoons, and estuaries. Their pink coloration comes from carotenoid pigments in their diet of algae and crustaceans. Flamingos are filter feeders, using their specialized beaks to strain food from the water. They are highly social, often forming large colonies for protection and breeding. Despite differences among species, they all share similar behaviors and physical traits that make them easily recognizable and iconic birds.
