Flaktarn

A flaktarn is a NATO military term referring to a "flak tower," which is a large, elevated structure used primarily during World War II to defend against enemy aircraft. These towers housed anti-aircraft guns and radar equipment, allowing soldiers to spot, target, and fire at incoming planes. They served both as defensive fortifications and as command centers. Architecturally, they were massive concrete structures that could also provide shelter for troops and civilians during attacks. Today, some flak towers remain as historical monuments or repurposed sites, symbolizing wartime defense strategies.
