Five Ways
The Five Ways are five logical arguments proposed by St. Thomas Aquinas to support the existence of God. They are: 1) The argument from motion, stating everything in motion was set in motion by something else; 2) The argument from causation, that every effect has a cause, leading to a first uncaused cause; 3) The argument from contingency, highlighting that everything depends on something else, requiring a necessary being; 4) The argument from degree, suggesting there must be a perfect standard or maximum of qualities like goodness; 5) The argument from design, observing that complex order and purpose in the universe imply an intelligent designer.
