Fishery quota
A fishery quota is a limit set on how much of a particular fish species can be caught within a specific period, usually annually. It helps ensure the fish population remains healthy and sustainable by preventing overfishing. Quotas can be allocated to individual fishermen, fishing companies, or countries, and are enforced through monitoring and regulation. When a quota is reached, fishing in that area or for that species is typically restricted until the next period to protect the long-term viability of the fish stock.
