First-Year Residency
First-year residency, also known as PGY-1, is the initial stage of postgraduate medical training for new doctors after medical school. During this period, they work in hospitals or clinics under supervision, applying their medical knowledge to real patient care. The focus is on developing essential clinical skills, gaining practical experience, and building confidence in diagnosing and treating patients. Residency is a demanding but crucial step toward becoming a fully licensed physician, progressively increasing responsibility as they advance through their training.
