First World
The First World refers to countries with developed economies, advanced infrastructure, high standards of living, and stable political systems. Historically, it included Western nations aligned with the United States and its allies during the Cold War. These countries typically have strong healthcare, education, and technological systems, resulting in higher life expectancy and quality of life. The term is often used to distinguish them from the developing or less-developed regions of the world. While originally linked to Cold War alliances, today it broadly describes nations with mature, high-income economies and well-established institutions.
