First powered flight
The first powered flight took place on December 17, 1903, when the Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, successfully piloted their aircraft, the Wright Flyer, in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Orville flew the plane for 12 seconds, covering 120 feet, which marked a groundbreaking moment in aviation history. This achievement demonstrated that controlled, powered flight was possible, paving the way for the development of modern airplanes. The Wright brothers' ingenuity combined principles of aerodynamics, propulsion, and control, leading to advancements that transformed transportation and connected the world.
