First Nations (Canada)
First Nations are Indigenous peoples in Canada who have historically inhabited the land prior to European contact. They represent diverse cultures, languages, and traditions, each with distinct identities and governance systems. Recognized as one of the three main Indigenous groups in Canada (alongside Métis and Inuit), First Nations peoples have treaty rights and a deep spiritual connection to their ancestral territories. They have contributed significantly to Canada’s history and continue to work towards recognition, reconciliation, and the protection of their cultural heritage and sovereignty in contemporary society.
