Firewise Communities

Firewise Communities are neighborhoods that take proactive steps to reduce their risk of wildfire damage. Through coordinated efforts, residents and local authorities identify and manage fire hazards, such as creating defensible space around homes, using fire-resistant building materials, and maintaining clean landscaping. The goal is to make the community safer by minimizing the chances of fire spreading and increasing the ability to protect property and lives during a wildfire. Participation in Firewise programs promotes awareness, risk assessment, and shared responsibility, fostering resilient communities better prepared to handle wildfire threats.
