firestorm

A firestorm is an intense, uncontrollable wildfire characterized by rapidly spreading flames and extraordinarily high temperatures. It often occurs in large, drying areas during hot, dry conditions, where the fire draws in strong winds that feed it further. The intense heat can create its own weather, causing gusts and sometimes tornado-like fire whirls. Firestorms can cause widespread destruction, threaten lives, and create hazardous smoke and air quality issues. They are common in forest fires, urban-wildland interface fires, and during major wildfires where conditions are extreme and the fire’s intensity overwhelms standard firefighting efforts.
