Fire Direction Control

Fire Direction Control (FDC) is the process and system used by military personnel to plan, coordinate, and direct artillery and fire support. It involves calculating the precise position, trajectory, and timing needed for weapons to hit a target accurately. FDC integrates information from radar, maps, and other sensors, and communicates commands to crews in the field. Its goal is to ensure effective, safe, and coordinated fire — maximizing combat effectiveness while minimizing friendly casualties and collateral damage. Essentially, it’s the command center that makes sure artillery strikes are accurate and well-coordinated.
