A finite set is a collection of distinct objects or elements that can be counted individually, and the total number of these elements is a specific whole number. For example, the set of all weekdays in a week has exactly seven elements, while the set of planets in our solar system has eight. Finite sets are important in mathematics because they allow for precise counting and comparison. They differ from infinite sets, which have no end, like the set of all natural numbers. Essentially, finite sets are well-defined groups with a definite size.
