Fingernails
Fingernails are hardened keratin structures that protect the sensitive tips of your fingers. They enhance the sense of touch, assist with gripping objects, and help prevent injuries. Growth begins from the nail matrix under the skin at the nail’s base, where new cells form and push older ones outward, causing the nail to lengthen. Nails are composed of dead, keratinized cells, making them durable. Their color can indicate health; for instance, pale nails might suggest anemia, while yellowish nails can be a sign of fungal infection. Regular care keeps nails healthy and prevents issues.
