FIM

FIM, or Functional Independence Measure, is a tool used by healthcare professionals to assess a person’s ability to perform daily activities independently. It evaluates tasks such as eating, bathing, dressing, controlling bowels and bladder, walking, and communication. Each activity is scored to reflect how much assistance a person needs, ranging from complete independence to total dependence. FIM helps track progress over time, plan appropriate care, and determine the level of support required for rehabilitation or ongoing daily function. It’s widely used in hospitals and rehab centers to promote optimal recovery and quality of life.
