Filipino-American War
The Filipino-American War (1899-1902) was a conflict between Filipino insurgents seeking independence and the United States, which had taken control of the Philippines after Spain's defeat in the Spanish-American War. Filipinos, who had fought for independence from Spain, aimed to establish their own nation but faced U.S. military opposition. The war involved guerrilla tactics, battles, and resistance efforts, leading to significant loss of life on both sides. Ultimately, the U.S. maintained control, and the Philippines remained a U.S. territory until gaining independence in 1946.
