FILA (Fédération Internationale des Luttes Associées)

FILA, now known as United World Wrestling (UWW), is the international organization responsible for overseeing amateur wrestling disciplines, including Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling. Established in 1912 as Fédération Internationale des Luttes Associées, it sets rules, organizes world championships, and promotes the sport globally. UWW works with national wrestling federations to develop and standardize competitions, ensuring fair play and athletic excellence. Its role is similar to that of FIFA for soccer but focused on wrestling, helping to grow the sport and prepare athletes for major competitions like the Olympics.
