Fiefdoms

Fiefdoms refer to territories or domains in medieval Europe controlled by lords or nobles. These lands were granted by a monarch in exchange for loyalty and military service. The lord had significant power over the fief, managing resources and governing the people living there. In return, peasants worked the land and provided goods, often in exchange for protection. Fiefdoms were central to the feudal system, where social and economic relationships were structured around land ownership and obligations, creating a hierarchy that defined medieval society.
