Fick Principle

The Fick Principle explains how to measure blood flow to an organ, like the lungs or heart. It states that the amount of a substance (such as oxygen) consumed or taken up by the organ per minute equals the blood flow to that organ multiplied by the difference in its concentration before and after passing through. Essentially, by knowing how much of a substance is used and how much the concentration changes, we can calculate how much blood is flowing to that area. This principle helps doctors assess how well organs are functioning and blood is circulating.
