Fibrous histiocytoma
Fibrous histiocytoma is a type of soft tissue tumor that typically develops in the skin or under the skin. It consists of a mix of fibrous (scarlike) tissue and histiocytes, which are immune system cells. Most of these tumors are benign, meaning they are not cancerous, but some can be malignant. They usually appear as painless, slow-growing lumps that can vary in size. Diagnosis is confirmed through a biopsy, and treatment often involves surgical removal. While often harmless, some fibrous histiocytomas may recur if not completely excised.
