Fibroids

Fibroids, also known as uterine leiomyomas, are non-cancerous growths that develop in the muscular wall of the uterus. They vary in size and number and are influenced by hormonal factors, especially estrogen. Many women experience no symptoms, but some may encounter heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, pressure on the bladder or rectum, and and/or fertility issues. Fibroids are typically diagnosed through imaging methods like ultrasound. Treatment options depend on size, symptoms, and desire for future pregnancy and can range from monitoring to medications or surgical procedures.
