Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing

Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) is a medical procedure used to assess how well a person swallows. A thin, flexible tube with a camera on the end is gently inserted through the nose to view the throat and larynx (voice box) directly. The person then drinks different textures of food and liquids while the healthcare provider watches the camera feed to check for problems like food going into the airway. FEES helps identify swallowing difficulties, guiding effective treatment plans to improve safety and nutritional intake.
