Fetal Growth Restriction (FGR)
Fetal Growth Restriction (FGR) occurs when a developing baby inside the womb does not grow as expected for its gestational age. This can be due to problems with the placenta, the mother's health, or fetal conditions, leading to insufficient nutrients and oxygen reaching the baby. As a result, the baby may be smaller than usual and at higher risk for complications during pregnancy, delivery, and after birth. Monitoring and managing FGR is important to ensure the best possible outcome for both mother and baby, often involving increased surveillance, lifestyle adjustments, or early delivery if necessary.
