Fetal Fibronectin Test
The Fetal Fibronectin (fFN) test is a diagnostic tool used to help predict the risk of preterm birth. It detects a protein called fetal fibronectin, which is normally found in the area between the uterus and the placenta. If this protein is present in vaginal secretions between 24 and 34 weeks of pregnancy, it may indicate a higher chance of delivering prematurely. The test helps healthcare providers assess whether a woman is at risk and guides decisions about interventions to improve pregnancy outcomes. It is quick, non-invasive, and provides valuable information about preterm labor risk.
