Ferrel Cell
The Ferrel Cell is a large-scale atmospheric circulation pattern located between the Hadley Cell near the equator and the Polar Cell near the poles. It operates roughly between 30° and 60° north and south latitude. In this cell, air generally moves poleward and eastward at the surface, then rises and moves back toward the equator at higher altitudes. This circulation influences weather patterns, contributing to the prevailing westerly winds in mid-latitudes and helping create the temperate climates found in regions like North America and Europe. The Ferrel Cell interacts with neighboring cells to redistribute heat and moisture around the planet.
