Fermilab Tevatron
The Fermilab Tevatron was a large particle accelerator located near Chicago, used to study fundamental particles by smashing protons and antiprotons together at high energies. These collisions allowed scientists to explore the basic building blocks of matter and discover particles like the top quark. Operational from 1983 until 2011, the Tevatron played a key role in advancing particle physics, helping us better understand the universe's fundamental forces and particles. It was one of the most powerful accelerators before the Large Hadron Collider in Europe.
