Feminism and Womanism
Feminism is the belief in equal rights and opportunities for all genders, aiming to address and challenge gender-based inequality and discrimination. Womanism, a term rooted in Black feminist thought, emphasizes the importance of addressing race, gender, and social justice simultaneously, often highlighting the experiences of women of color. While both advocate for equality, feminism broadly focuses on gender issues, whereas womanism considers the unique cultural and social contexts affecting women of color, promoting inclusivity and intersectionality in the fight for justice.
