Federation Council
The Federation Council is the upper chamber of Russia’s Federal Assembly, serving as one of the country's legislative bodies alongside the State Duma. It consists of representatives from each of Russia’s regions or republics, with two representatives per region—typically one chosen by the regional government and one by the regional legislative body. Its main responsibilities include reviewing and approving federal laws, ratifying international treaties, and overseeing issues related to regional sovereignty. The Federation Council acts as a stabilizing and balancing institution, ensuring regional interests are considered in national legislation and governance.
