Federal Power Commission
The Federal Power Commission (FPC) was a U.S. government agency established in 1930 to regulate interstate electricity and natural gas industries, ensuring fair pricing, reliable service, and efficient infrastructure development. It monitored and approved rates, oversaw infrastructure projects, and helped prevent monopolistic practices in energy markets. In 1977, its responsibilities were transferred to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), which continues to oversee interstate energy markets today. The FPC played a key role in shaping energy regulation during its existence, promoting competition and protecting consumers in the energy sector.
