Fecal Coliform

Fecal coliforms are a group of bacteria found in the intestines of warm-blooded animals, including humans. Their presence in water indicates potential contamination with fecal matter, which may contain harmful pathogens. Testing for fecal coliforms helps evaluate water safety for drinking, bathing, and recreational use, ensuring that water sources are not polluted and are safe for public health. Detecting these bacteria doesn’t necessarily mean harmful pathogens are present, but it suggests that possibly dangerous microbes could be, prompting necessary treatment or precautions.
