FDC (follicular dendritic cells)
Follicular dendritic cells (FDCs) are specialized immune cells found in lymph nodes and other lymphoid tissues. They play a crucial role in the body's defense by capturing and presenting harmless particles, like bits of bacteria or viruses, to help activate B cells—white blood cells that produce antibodies. Unlike other immune cells, FDCs do not directly attack pathogens but support the immune response by organizing and maintaining the structures needed for effective antibody production. This process helps the body recognize and remember infections, aiding in longer-lasting immunity.
