FCA (False Claims Act)
The False Claims Act (FCA) is a federal law that encourages individuals and organizations to report fraudulent activities involving government programs or funds. It allows the government to take legal action against entities that knowingly submit false or misleading claims for payment or approval. Importantly, whistleblowers—known as relators—can file lawsuits on behalf of the government and may receive a portion of any recovered funds. The FCA aims to protect taxpayer dollars by deterring fraud and ensuring honest participation in government-funded programs.
