
Fatima Sheikh
Fatima Sheikh was an influential Indian educator and social reformer, best known for co-founding the Haji Ali School in Mumbai in 1885 alongside Jyotirao Phule. She dedicated her life to promoting education among marginalized communities, especially girls and girls from oppressed castes. Sheikh believed education was a powerful tool for social equality and challenged prevailing prejudices. Her work played a significant role in advancing access to education for underserved populations in India, making her a pioneering figure in the history of social reform and women’s rights in the country.
