Fatawa (Islamic legal opinions)
A fatawa is an Islamic legal opinion issued by a qualified religious scholar (alim) or a council, based on Islamic law (Sharia). When Muslims face questions or dilemmas about religious practices, ethics, or daily life, they may seek a fatawa for guidance on what is permissible or obligations. These opinions interpret the Quran, Hadith (sayings of the Prophet), and other sources to help followers make informed decisions that align with their faith. Fatawa are not binding like law but serve as authoritative advice to help individuals navigate complex or unclear situations in accordance with Islamic principles.
