FAS

FAS, or Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, is a condition that occurs in babies when their mothers consume alcohol during pregnancy. Alcohol passes from the mother’s bloodstream into the baby’s developing body and brain, which can cause physical birth defects, such as a small head or facial features, and developmental issues like learning disabilities and behavioral problems. The severity depends on factors like the amount and timing of alcohol consumption. FAS is preventable—abstinence from alcohol during pregnancy is the safest way to protect the baby's health and development.
