Farvardegan, also known as Fravardegan, is an ancient Persian celebration marking the beginning of the new year in the Iranian calendar, typically falling in late September. It honors the Fravashis—guardian spirits or souls of the righteous, ancestors, and the departed. The festival involves paying respect to these spirits, reflecting on themes of renewal, memory, and connection with one’s heritage. Traditionally, it includes rituals such as offerings, commemorative gatherings, and community activities that emphasize gratitude, respect for ancestors, and hopes for a prosperous year ahead.
