FARC-EP (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People's Army)
The FARC-EP (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia—People's Army) is a former Colombian guerrilla group that was originally founded in 1964 as a Marxist-Leninist insurgency aiming to overthrow the Colombian government and establish a socialist state. Over decades, it engaged in armed conflict, including kidnappings, guerrilla warfare, and drug trafficking to fund its operations. In 2016, most of the group signed a peace agreement, transforming into a political party, but some factions remain active. The group played a significant role in Colombia’s internal conflict, representing both revolutionary ideals and the challenges of maintaining peace and stability.
