Fang structure

A Fang structure is a type of geological formation found in sedimentary basins, primarily composed of layered sediments like sandstones, shales, and sometimes volcanic materials. These layers are often tilted or folded due to tectonic forces, creating a distinctive, stacked appearance. Fang structures often resemble natural "fangs" or pointed teeth when viewed in cross-section, resulting from the way the sediments are arranged and deformed over time. They provide valuable insights into the Earth's geological history and processes like sediment deposition and tectonic activity, and are often studied in oil and gas exploration.
