Fanconi syndrome

Fanconi syndrome is a disorder where the kidneys' small tubes don’t work properly, leading to the loss of important substances like sugars, amino acids, phosphate, and bicarbonate into the urine. This causes symptoms such as weakness, bone problems, muscle weakness, and dehydration. The condition can be inherited or acquired due to certain medications or illnesses. Because the kidneys aren’t reabsorbing essential nutrients correctly, it can lead to mineral imbalances and other health issues. Treatment focuses on replacing lost nutrients, managing symptoms, and addressing the underlying cause when possible.
