
Family Medical Leave Act Regulations
The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a US law that allows eligible employees to take unpaid, job-protected leave for certain family and health reasons, such as caring for a newborn, a family member's serious health condition, or their own health issues. Generally, employees can take up to 12 weeks of leave within a 12-month period. Employers must maintain health benefits during leave and restore employees to their same or equivalent position afterward. To qualify, employees typically need to work for the employer for at least 12 months and have completed at least 1,250 hours of work in the past year.
