F1 hybrid
An F1 hybrid is the first generation offspring resulting from crossing two different plant or animal varieties, breeds, or species, each with distinct characteristics. In agriculture, F1 hybrids are often developed by crossing inbred lines to produce plants with improved traits like higher yield, disease resistance, or better appearance. These hybrids tend to be uniform and predictable in performance, making them desirable for farmers. However, seeds saved from F1 hybrids may not reliably reproduce the same qualities in subsequent generations, so farmers often purchase new hybrid seeds each season.
