F-actin

F-actin, or filamentous actin, is a protein thread that forms part of the cell’s cytoskeleton—the internal framework that gives cells shape and support. Made from many smaller actin units linked together, F-actin is flexible yet sturdy, allowing cells to change shape, move, and transport materials internally. It also plays a key role in muscle contraction and cell division. Think of F-actin as a dynamic, adaptable scaffold that helps cells stay organized, respond to their environment, and perform essential functions efficiently.
