Exudates
Exudates are fluids that leak out of blood vessels into nearby tissues, usually due to inflammation or injury. They contain water, proteins, immune cells, and waste products, and serve to help the body fight infection and heal damaged tissue. The appearance and amount of exudate can vary depending on the cause—such as clear, cloudy, or pus-like—and can indicate the severity or type of underlying condition. Doctors often analyze exudates to diagnose infections, inflammation, or other medical issues.
