Exudate

Exudate is a fluid that leaks out of blood vessels into surrounding tissues when there is inflammation or infection. It contains water, proteins, immune cells, and waste products, and serves to help fight infection and promote healing. The amount and type of exudate—such as clear, cloudy, pus-like, or bloody—can provide clues about the severity and nature of the tissue injury or illness. It is a natural part of the body's response to injury but may need medical attention if excessive or persistent.
