Exponents

Exponents are a way to express repeated multiplication of the same number. For example, 3² (read as "three squared") means 3 multiplied by itself once: 3 × 3 = 9. The number you raise to a power is called the base, and the exponent indicates how many times to multiply the base by itself. So, 2³ means 2 × 2 × 2 = 8. Exponents are useful for shorthand in mathematics, especially when dealing with large numbers or very small numbers, making complex calculations simpler and more manageable.
