Exodus International
Exodus International was a Christian organization founded in 1976 that aimed to help individuals reconcile their faith with their sexual orientation, often promoting the idea that people could change or suppress same-sex attractions through prayer and counseling. It served as a prominent voice in the ex-gay movement, which believed sexual orientation is changeable. In 2013, Exodus International disbanded, apologizing for past harm done to LGBTQ+ individuals and acknowledging that "change" efforts had often been hurtful. The organization shifted its focus toward supporting LGBTQ+ people without efforts to alter their sexual orientation.
