Exhalation

Exhalation is the process of breathing out air from the lungs. When you exhale, your diaphragm and other respiratory muscles relax, causing the lungs to decrease in volume. This increased pressure inside the lungs pushes air out through the windpipe and out of your mouth or nose. It’s a passive process during relaxed breathing but can involve active effort during forceful exhalation, like coughing or exercising. Exhalation helps remove carbon dioxide, a waste product of metabolism, from your body, maintaining a healthy balance of gases in your blood.
