Exertional heat illness

Exertional heat illness occurs when the body overheats due to strenuous activity, especially in hot or humid conditions. It results from the body's inability to properly cool itself, leading to symptoms like heavy sweating, dizziness, nausea, muscle cramps, or even fainting. If untreated, it can progress to more severe conditions like heatstroke, which may cause confusion, rapid heartbeat, and loss of consciousness, and can be life-threatening. Proper hydration, acclimatization, and taking breaks in cooler environments help prevent it. Prompt recognition and cooling are essential for effective treatment.
