executive dysfunction

Executive dysfunction refers to difficulties in managing and regulating the mental skills needed for goal-directed activities. This includes challenges with planning, organizing, prioritizing, managing time, initiating tasks, maintaining focus, switching between tasks, and controlling impulses. It often results from issues in the brain's frontal lobes and can occur due to conditions like ADHD, brain injuries, or neurodegenerative diseases. Essentially, executive dysfunction impacts one's ability to effectively control thoughts and actions, making it harder to complete daily tasks and adapt to new or complex situations.
