Event Data Recorder
An Event Data Recorder (EDR) is a device installed in vehicles that captures technical information about the vehicle's functioning before, during, and after a crash or sudden event. It records data such as speed, braking, seat belt use, and airbag deployment. This information helps investigators understand the circumstances of a crash, improve vehicle safety, and determine causes. Think of it as a “black box” for cars, providing valuable insights similar to an airplane’s flight recorder, but specifically for automotive incidents.
